Petform (Thailand) Limited
Petform produces PET preforms, PET bottles and HDPE Closures for packaging of water and beverages. Its production capacity is 407 million Preforms, 180 million PET bottles and 540 million Closures per annum. It was incorporated on August 5, 1996. It was a joint venture between IRP, Serm Suk Public Company Limited and DEG. Serm Suk Public Company Limited is the exclusive bottler of PEPSI beverages in Thailand and is the major end user of Preforms, PET bottles and Closures. It uses PET bottles for filling carbonated soft drinks, water and other beverages. This has enabled IRP to work with end users on developing product specifications to meet international quality standards. To facilitate continuous production process and cost efficiency Petform is located in the same area as IRP's plant in Lopburi Province.
Asia Pet (Thailand) Limited
AsiaPet produces Amorphous PET polymers and is a backward integration for IRP. AsiaPet was incorporated on July 2, 2001 and it started commercial operations in May 2003. AsiaPet has a production capacity of 126,000 tons per annum after capacity de-bottleneck in year 2007. It services the raw material requirements of IRP and also services external domestic and exports customers with different grades of Amorphous PET polymers. AsiaPet is located in the same area as IRP's plant in Lopburi province. It smoothens out the process of production and adds to cost efficiency. Currently, implementing expansion to raise capacity to 180,000 tons per annum at the existing site in Lopburi.
StarPet Inc., USA
In order to spread its operations across the globe, Indorama decided to acquire Starpet, an integrated plant that manufactures PET polymers in Asheboro, North Carolina in USA. StarPet was incorporated on February 4, 2003 in North Carolina, USA. The plant had a production capacity of 80,000 tons per annum. The integrated plant has both the Continuous Polycondensation (CP) plant and the Solid State Polymerization (SSP) plant.
Since acquisition the operations have grown multifold. The company has been able to expand the customer base to serve large converters. The company’s operations have been healthy and profitable right from the word go. In May, 2005 increased capacity for PET polymers to 116,000 tons per annum.
In March 2007, completed capacity expansion to 225,000 tons per annum for both Amorphous PET polymers and PET polymers at the existing site. The increase in capacity is in line with continuous growth in demand for PET polymers in North America.
UAB Orion Global Pet, Lithuania, Europe
In continuation of its globalization strategy, Indorama has build a green field integrated PET polymers plant in Klaipeda, Lithuania, Europe. Klaipeda is a free economic zone for industrial activity and has an all weather seaport. It is also well connected by rail and road to Europe in the West and Russia in the East. The plant at Klaipeda has both the Continuous Polycondensation (CP) plant and the Solid State Polymerization (SSP) plant with a name plate capacity of 198,000 tons per annum. The construction of the plant completed in October 2006 and has successfully commenced production at high utilization rates. Year 2007 is the first full year of operations and the plant operated at high utilization rates. The company has contributed to the earnings from the first quarter of commercial operations.
AlphaPet Inc., USA
AlphaPet Inc. is a company incorporated in USA in the year 2007 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of IRP. AlphaPet Inc. is implementing the new greenfield plant for PET polymers with a capacity of 432,000 tons per annum in Decatur, Alabama, USA. The subsidiary has signed- up agreements with plant suppliers, contractors for construction and installation and has tied-up project finance. At the same time it has entered into a long term PTA supply agreement with BP Chemicals, their PTA plant is located next door. The plant will complete installation and start commercial operations in quarter 1, 2009.
UAB Indorama Polymers Europe, Lithuania
UAB Indorama Polymers Europe is a wholly owned subsidiary of IRP and was registered in Lithuania in December, 2007. Further, wholly owned subsidiaries of UAB Indorama Polymers Europe are registered in the Netherlands and United Kingdom. The said subsidiaries have been established for the purpose of acquisition of two PET polymers
